Past Opportunities

The Franklin Humanities Institute is seeking a summer graduate research assistant to work on a set of inter-connected archiving and communications projects (late May/early June to late August). 

4 workshops will be offered in this application cycle: 2 for single-author monographs, 1 for a digital publication (e.g. e-books, works between book and article length, web supplements for a print book, journal articles), 1 for a collaborative project (e.g. works of translation, multi- or collaboratively authored publications, edited collections).

Are you interested in working on human rights activities at Duke and in Durham? The Duke Human Rights Center@FHI and the Pauli Murray Project seek an intern to organize and promote human rights-related events.

The Franklin Humanities Institute is now accepting proposals for Faculty Book Manuscript Completion Fellowships for the 2013-14 academic year. Supported by the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, this program offers Duke faculty the opportunity to convene a manuscript workshop (Fall 2013) AND to receive one semester of course release (Spring 2014) in order to address the contributions of their workshop participants. Additionally, each Book MS Completion Fellow’s home department will be matched with a Visiting Professor who will take on the Fellow’s teaching duties.  Two fellowships will be offered each year, with at least one in the Assistant rank.
