In this seminar we will turn to a particular common sense that Michael Hardt has been offering up for a reboot of general sociality: love. We are trying to imagine tethering the non-sovereignty of love to a post-sovereign politics. One focus toward which we’ve been pushing is to link the affective situation to frames for imagining new social practices. Central to this is a discussion of institutions, infrastructure. Readings include, Hardt and Berlant, “On the Risk of a New Relationality;” and Berlant, "Austerity, Precarity, Awkwardness."
