MLA lifetime achievement award for Fredric Jameson

Fredric JamesonWe are delighted to share the news that Fredric Jameson, William A. Lane Jr. Professor of Comparative Literature, has won the Award for Lifetime Scholarly Achievement from the Modern Language Association (MLA). Recipient of a FHI Faculty Book Completion Fellowship in 2011-12, Prof. Jameson is currently at work on a book on realism.

I won't attempt to narrate Prof. Jameson's epoch-defining contributions to literary studies and critical theory in this space. For that you might start with the website of the Holberg International Memorial Prize, which he won in 2008. The section on his award includes this excellent tribute as well as two helpful bibliographies (plus videos from the prize symposium). In November 2008, the FHI hosted a "rehearsal" lecture by Prof. Jameson in advance of the award ceremony in Norway. You can view that talk here. The Holberg Prize is awarded annually for outstanding scholarly work in the fields of the arts and humanities, social sciences, law and theology.

Congratulations!
